Ich bedanke mich bei Ihnen herzlich für die Unterstützung der Ukraine und ukrainischer Studierender!
I would like to express my immense gratitude towards Alumni Freiburg for helping me pay for my excursion to England. This year, for the first time since the beginning of the pandemic, a group of 15 students, including me, were given a wonderful opportunity to participate in the study trip to Stratford-upon-Avon and London. As most COVID restrictions had finally been lifted and travel became possible again, the English faculty continued its annual tradition of visiting William Shakespeare’s hometown. Our trip took place from September 27th to October 2nd and despite it being only five days long, it was packed with exciting activities, such as a visit to Anne Hathaway’s cottage and even a short stopover in Oxford. Most importantly, of course, we got to enjoy two wonderful plays by Royal Shakespeare Company in Stratford-upon-Avon and two incredibly immersive plays at the Globe in London. The trip had an excellent balance of educational and entertaining elements, as we participated in discussions led by very knowledgeable staff of Shakespeare Birthplace Trust, but also enjoyed some free time to explore the cozy streets of Stratford and the bustling city life of London. All in all, it was a fantastic experience; it was educational, culturally enriching and very fun!
I am currently doing the Master of Arts degree in English Literatures and Literary Theory at the University of Freiburg. For my program, the excursion was a mandatory module. However, as an international student from Ukraine, I was in a very difficult financial situation and couldn’t pay for all the costs associated with the trip (visa application, accommodation, flight tickets etc.). Without the generous help of Alumni Freiburg, I would not have been able to participate in the excursion. So, at this point, I would like to thank you again for your support during a challenging time!
