Back in the San Francisco Bay Area!
Friends of Freiburg returned to the West Coast! Gathering at Schroeder’s SF, a refurbished German beer hall in the heart of San Francisco’s financial district, alumni new and old shared drinks and swapped stories from their time in both cities. Some, like James G., were veterans of alumni Freiburg events, having even attended the International Alumni reunion in Freiburg in the past. For others, like David M., it marked their first occasion meeting with Freiburgers since graduation. Alumni learned about the work of Friends of Freiburg and the liaison office in North America, and offered suggestions for future events and initiatives to engage West Coast alumni. In addition to Freiburg memories, they also shared professional advice and tips for living in the Bay area.
Alumni were quick to explain to our New York team that it was a mistake to expect the sunny SoCal weather in San Francisco, even in late August, teasing that, as Mark Twain allegedly once said, “The coldest winter I ever spent was a summer in San Francisco.” Overall, the evening was a delightful experience, and we look forward to seeing everyone in October!
